raymond merritt, do, FAWM  

Dr Raymond Merritt is an Emergency Medicine physician in Tampa, FL with a jumbo sized passion for International travel and education. He has been to all 7 continents and loves experiencing local cultures and the diversity of nature while learning of new and old civilizations. Some of his travels include trekking with the mountain gorillas in Rwanda, backpacking through Europe, night scuba diving with manta rays, hiking the Appalachian Trail, and roaming throughout Asia visiting historical sites. When not traveling you can find him on the trails mountain biking, at the shooting range or learning how to fix something from YouTube university.

Prior to medical school Ray served as an US army Ranger/special operation forces then obtained a Bachelor degree in nursing and worked for almost 10 years in the ER and ICU. He also took part in medical missionary opportunities providing medical care in remote areas near the Bangladesh and Myanmar border. He has completed fellowships in wilderness medicine, ultrasound, teaching/education, leadership-advocacy. Ray is also experienced with diving medicine-hyperbaric therapy as well as flight medicine. Also, an additional background in disaster medicine with (FEMA) disaster medical assistance teams for the past 20 years.
