DR. tyler Christensen
Dr. Tyler Christensen is an emergency medicine physician and recently completed his Wilderness Medicine Fellowship at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Tyler's interest in the wilderness began at an early age camping and exploring with the Boy Scouts, which eventually led to him joining the US Army as a Combat Medic. After a tour in Iraq in 2005 as a medic, he decided to apply for medical school. Using his experiences from Iraq, Tyler has taught several courses on improvised care for traumatic injuries in a wilderness setting during medical school and residency.
While completing his fellowship, Tyler worked towards his Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine (FAWM), SCUBA and dive instruction, and his instructor status for Advanced Wilderness Life Support. He has led many medical student and resident wilderness education courses and summitted Kilimanjaro in March 2016 while teaching with Wild Med Adventures. In addition, he has a great interest in Survival Medicine and Bushcraft. We are happy to have Tyler as part of our team of instructors.
