Luke Husby, DO, FAWM

Dr. Luke Husby is an emergency medicine physician and an assistant professor and director of education and research of the Wilderness and Survival Medicine Section at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) Emergency Department. He has had an interest in global health and austere medicine working in several tropical environments including Zambia teaching with the World Health Organization, as well as work in other East African countries primarily Uganda and Tanzania. His interest in austere medicine grew out of summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro just prior to residency at Palmetto Health in Columbia, SC. Additionally, he has worked in Samoa, American Samoa, and Tonga in a medical volunteer capacity with established teams.

This was furthered with a fellowship in Global Health from UTHSCSA and a Diploma of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the University of Glasgow. He has completed his FAWM with a WildMed Adventure Course capstone. His related personal interests include bushcraft, backpacking, hunting, and living the best life with his family.
