  • Join our 9 night Dirt Biking/Jeep CME course in North Vietnam

  • Ride tailored to your experience: Choose between Dirt Bike (Honda 250cc) or Off-Road Jeep

  • Take in great roads and experience Ba Be lake  by boat as we put our bikes on local boats and glide across the calm waters with time for a swim, after departing Ba Be National Park we head up to the rough mountains of Ha Giang and the colorful people that inhabit this unique landscape. If you choose the Jeep option, routes may vary but we will all meet up for lunch / dinner and stay at same hotels so if you are a couple feel free for one of you to take a motobike and the other a jeep :)

    Destinations: Hanoi – Lang Son / That Khe – Quang Uyen – Ban Gioc waterfall – Ba Be – Dong Van – Ha Giang – Hoan Su Phi – Thac Ba Lake – Hanoi

  • The routes are flexible depending on the riders experience from smooth paved roads to off road and dirt tracks. Ride through stone forests and hill-tribe villages on our way to the road that hugs the cliff at the Ma Phi Lieng Pass. Great views into China. Next, we visit a historical landmark of the H’mong Kings palace built in the 1840’s from the proceeds of Opium cultivation., We head down to Ha Giang town,  and then back up through the terraced mountains to Hoan Su Phi, stopping on Thac Ba Lake on our way back to Hanoi.  Get ready for an amazing Northeast motorbike adventure. On tour, the accommodation is a mix of village Home-stay where we eat with our host and sleep in houses on stilts or hotels with AC, WIFI and hot showers. Meals on tours take the best of local cuisine and picnics in the hills, we take coffee in the morning to afternoon refreshments and great local dinners.

  • This course is ideal for those interested in providing medical care / prevention to the outdoor enthusiast or those looking to learn more about possible injuries and accidents encountered while off-roading. Our courses are also great for those travel enthusiasts, group leaders, bikers, walkers, EMT’s, nurses or doctors with a desire to learn medical treatment in austere environments. We will complete the core curriculum of this CME certification course while off roading in Vietnam. Explore the beauty of Vietnam and immerse yourself in the culture of souteast asia. ATTENDING THIS COURSE YOU WILL:

  • Learn the latest wilderness medical skills for patient assessment, stabilization and evacuation.

  • Practice your skills while enjoying a true wilderness adventure in the backcountry

  • Work with our expert faculty and Dirt Biking / Jeep guides with years experience to develop your knowledge and awareness regarding dirt biking and motorcycle injuries

  • Obtain up to 14 hours of CME and Fellowship credits from the Wilderness Medical Society towards your FAWM

  • Our program focuses on treatment of the most common injuries and illnesses encountered while in the backcountry.

CERTIFICATION:

  • 14 AMA PRA Category 1 CME (TM) Credits and WMS FAWM Credits

  • Motorcycle License NOT required, but riding experience recommended

THE  TEAM / FACULTY:

  • The riding logistics and leadership will be provided by extremely experienced guides from Coyote Trail Adventures, whose team members have a wealth of knowledge and experience.

  • The Wild Med Adventures Team are all well traveled and experienced and promise to make your CME experience both educational and informative, but please note that we are only responsible for the educational aspect of this trip. We are NOT guides and are NOT responsible for the riding safety or proper gear.

TRIP INSURANCE:

  • Delegates should have personal insurance to cover any in-country medical examinations, treatment or rescue/evacuation as well as some form of trip insurance to cover missed flights, weather delays and other potential trip delays.

  • Rescue Insurance is required and we recommend Global Rescue.

Excluded: Tips: $250 - $300/pp. Any other personal gear you may need. Any additional costs for delays, injuries, trip insurance, or damage done by negligence. Bike Insurance is not included and you will be responsible for any damages to bike. Specialty Alcoholic Drinks - excludes high end wines and liquors. *Please note: this is a potentially dangerous activity in remote areas. CANCELLATION POLICY

  • Cancellation Policy: Your deposit for the travel portion of the course is nonrefundable. The entire balance of your trip fee and CME fee will be due 90 days prior to departure. No deposits will be returned after payment unless for some reason course is cancelled. If you have not paid in full prior to 90 days before the start of the course a late fee of $500 will be applied to the final cost or you will lose your spot on our trip. There will be a full refund minus deposit up to 90 days prior to course. No refunds if within 90 days of start of course.

  • Intended as continuing education for physicians, PA's, NP's, nurses, and medics who aspire to work or teach as a field instructor/provider in austere environments or who may work in remote clinics and deal with the injuries sustained by off road bikers.

  • Graduates from other wilderness medicine programs (e.g. FAWM, MFAWM) who want to gain experience and skills in off-roading / Remote Medicine

  • Individuals pursuing a Fellow of Wilderness Medicine degree (FAWM™)

MAIN EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

  • The goal of the Wilderness Medical Society Dirt Biking CME Conference is to provide participants with a unique environment to experience essential medically-related topics and learn skills while collaborating with Coyote Trails through educational activities including lectures, hands on work-shops, training modules and Biking Excursions.

  • Development of this CME curriculum is formed by the following key objectives:

    • Provide educational opportunities based on core curriculum of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine.

    • Provide education of value to providers who care for the medical needs and also those involved with coordination of off roading-related educational activities, including medical providers who must educate and instruct rider safety with their patients.

    • Provide education of interest to wilderness and austere-activity enthusiasts.

  • After attending this conference, the participants will be able to:

    • Establish a set of treatment priorities for care of the sick or injured in remote settings.

    • Prevent, diagnose, and manage illnesses and injuries in austere environments.

    • Demonstrate increased knowledge and skill in recognizing and treating the most common illnesses and injuries encountered in remote environments, including medical kits, patient assessment, hemorrhage control, and orthopedic injuries.

    • Understand objective risk-assessment in wilderness environments from the perspective of the medical professional acting as a trip leader.

    • Understand the pathophysiology and management of acute emergencies related to remote environments and potential high velocity vehicular injuries.

    • Perform a pre-departure assessment of the participant’s pre-existing medical conditions and plan an appropriate medical kit & care.
